Put that on a T-shirt. It should be the slogan for life.
Now and then, I go through phases of everything working out as intended. It’s humbling. That’s not the case most days though.
Spilled your coffee? The bag of cat litter busted on the way to the garbage can? Broke the handle on the measuring cup when cooking dinner? Your project at work was a miss? You lost 10 pounds only to gain back 5 after a week of falling off course?
Ok, now we’re talking. We’re only human. Don’t be so hard on yourself.
It’s easy to become fixated on a specific outcome. That outcome takes a physical form in your brain where you imagine how wonderful your life will be once it’s yours. You see yourself there. You see your future there. I hate to break it to you but try to avoid that.
It’s important to get excited, but when you put too much energy into something and it doesn’t come to fruition, it can be brutal.
Every opportunity is not black and white. When something you had your heart set on doesn’t happen, take some time and think about the knowledge you just gained.
When you can take the moments of failure and turn them into moments of learning, that’s when you’ve unlocked the potential of the human mind.
Don’t fear failure. Try seeing it as an opportunity for growth.
